Privacy Notice for Product Pages
Last updated: October 17, 2026
You are probably here because you scanned a QR code on a product, its packaging or its manual, and landed on a page for that product. That page belongs to the brand that made or sells the product. The brand uses Veribl, a software company based in Riga, Latvia, to run it.
This notice explains, in plain language, what information is collected on these pages, who is responsible for it, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- The brand is in charge of your data. It decides what to collect and how to use it. Veribl runs the page and stores the data for the brand.
- Simply viewing a page collects only basic, non-identifying scan information. Anything else, like registering a product, is up to you.
- The support chat is an AI assistant, not a person.
- You only get marketing emails if you agreed to them, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
- For questions or requests about your data, contact the brand. If you write to us instead, we will pass your request on.
1. Who is responsible
The brand whose product page you are on is the controller of your personal data. That means the brand decides why and how your data is used, and is responsible for following data protection law. The brand’s name is shown on the page and in any emails it sends you.
Veribl is the brand’s processor. We host the page, store the information you submit, and send emails on the brand’s behalf. We only use your data to provide this service to the brand, under a contract that requires us to protect it and follow the brand’s instructions. We do not use it for our own marketing and we never sell it.
Many brands have their own privacy policy, often linked from the product page. If the brand’s privacy policy says something different from this notice, the brand’s policy applies to how the brand uses your data.
2. What is collected
Which of these apply depends on what you do and on the features the brand has turned on.
| When you… | What is collected |
|---|---|
| Scan a QR code or open a product page | Time of the visit, the product or serial number, approximate location at country or region level (worked out from your IP address), device and browser type, and language. Your IP address is used to deliver the page and protect it from abuse. |
| Register a product | The details the form asks for, usually your name, email address, and optionally phone number, country, purchase date, retailer and serial number. |
| Upload proof of purchase | The receipt or invoice you upload. It may show the store, date, price and sometimes your name or address, so only upload what is needed. |
| Make a warranty claim or support request | Your contact details, a description of the problem, any photos or files you attach, and the messages between you and the brand. |
| Chat with the AI assistant | The messages you send and the answers you receive, linked to the product. |
| Leave feedback or a review | Your rating, comments and, if you provide them, your name or email. |
| Agree to hear from the brand | Your choice, when and where you made it, and the information needed to prove it (such as the time and IP address), plus whether you open or unsubscribe from emails. |
| Transfer ownership of a product | The details of the new owner you or the brand enter. |
Please do not enter sensitive information, such as payment card numbers, government ID numbers or health information, in chat, feedback or claim forms unless the brand specifically asks for it for your claim.
3. How it is used
The brand may use your information to:
- show you the right product information, manuals, guides and Digital Product Passport;
- register your product, confirm your warranty and record who owns the product;
- handle warranty claims, repairs and support requests;
- answer your questions through the AI assistant;
- contact you about important matters for your product, such as safety notices or recalls;
- send you tips, offers or review requests, but only if you agreed to that;
- understand how its products and pages are used, mostly through counts and trends; and
- keep the page secure and prevent fraud.
The brand is responsible for having a legal basis for each of these, for example performing your warranty, its legitimate interests, a legal obligation, or your consent. Your data is not used to make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects; warranty claims are decided by the brand.
4. The AI assistant
The chat on product pages is an AI assistant, and the page tells you so. It answers using information the brand has provided, such as manuals, articles and warranty terms. To produce an answer, your message and the relevant product information are sent to our AI service provider, which processes them only for that purpose and does not use them to train its models. Neither Veribl nor our provider uses your messages to train AI models.
The brand can read chat conversations and may see summaries of them, for example to spot common problems or unhappy customers. AI answers can be wrong; for anything important, like safety or a warranty decision, check with the brand.
5. Emails from the brand
Veribl sends emails on the brand’s behalf. Some are part of a service you asked for, like a registration or warranty confirmation, or an update on your claim. Marketing emails, such as product tips, offers or review requests, are only sent if you agreed to receive them. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect right away. You can also ask the brand to stop at any time.
6. Cookies
Product pages use only cookies that are strictly necessary for the page to work, such as one that keeps your visit on the same server for consistent loading, unless the brand has turned on something else, in which case the brand will ask for your consent where required. See our Cookie Notice.
7. Who else sees your data
- The brand and the people it authorizes, such as its support team, and service partners it works with for repairs or claims.
- Veribl’s service providers that help us run the pages, such as hosting, email delivery and the AI assistant. They are bound by contracts to protect your data.
- Other tools the brand connects, such as its own customer database or online store, if the brand chooses to send data there.
- Authorities, where required by law.
Your data is not sold.
8. Where it is stored and sent
Veribl is based in the EU. Some of our service providers process data in other countries, including the United States. When data leaves the European Economic Area or the UK, we use legal safeguards approved by the European Commission, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, or rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified. The brand itself may also be located outside the EU.
9. How long it is kept
The brand decides how long your information is kept, typically for as long as your product is under warranty or in use, plus any period the law requires. The brand can delete your records at any time. When a brand stops using Veribl, we delete or return its consumer data as our contract with the brand requires. If you unsubscribe, a record of that is kept so you are not emailed again.
Digital Product Passports are about the product, not about you, and stay publicly available for many years because EU product rules require it. Your personal details are not part of a passport.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to see the data held about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable format, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent you gave earlier. People in some US states have similar rights, including the right to know, delete and correct.
- Contact the brand first. Its contact details are usually on the product page, in its privacy policy, or in emails it sent you. The brand is the one that can decide on your request.
- Or write to us at [email protected]. Tell us which product or brand your request is about, ideally with a link to the page or the serial number. We will forward it to the brand promptly and help the brand respond.
- To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any of them.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example the one where you live. Veribl’s own lead authority is the Latvian Data State Inspectorate (dvi.gov.lv).
11. Children
Product registration, claims and chat are meant for adults who own or use the product. If you are under 16, please ask a parent or guardian to register the product for you.
12. Security
Data on product pages is sent over encrypted connections and stored encrypted. Each brand’s data is kept separate, and only people the brand authorizes can see it. More detail is in our Privacy Policy and on our Trust page.
13. Changes and contact
We may update this notice as our service changes; the date at the top shows the latest version. For questions about this notice or about how Veribl handles data on product pages, email [email protected]. For how Veribl handles data as a business, see our Privacy Policy.
