The European Commission plans to adopt the textiles delegated act under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) in Q4 2027. That final act will set the binding compliance date, and companies typically get about 18 months after a delegated act is adopted. Any fixed textile deadline you see today is a forecast, not law. The EU DPP Registry has been live since 20 July 2026, so brands can already prepare product data and test registration.

The delegated act will set the mandatory fields. EU preparatory studies and the Trace4Value industry framework point to nine areas: product identification, material composition (including recycled content), substances of concern, supply chain operators, environmental footprint, durability, repair and reuse, end-of-life and recycling, and compliance documentation. Consumers are expected to see a subset, such as material composition, care, repair and recycling information, while authorities and authorised businesses get more detail.

The Commission lists textiles and apparel as a priority product group, but the exact product scope and any exemptions will be confirmed in the textiles delegated act. Until it is adopted, treat detailed lists of included and excluded garments as provisional.

The ESPR requires a machine-readable data carrier on the product, its packaging or its accompanying documentation, and QR codes are the most widely used option. A QR code on the care label or hang tag can link to the passport, with the textiles delegated act confirming the exact requirements.
