Digital Product Passports you can rely on for the product's whole life

How Veribl meets the EU passport requirements: every rule your product falls under, open standards, at least 10 years online, the right access for every reader, and your data whenever you want it.

Product rules

Every EU rule your product falls under, in one catalog

Veribl keeps a reviewed catalog of the EU rules that put data in a Digital Product Passport, with each rule's legal status, dates and sources. Every product is checked against the rules that apply to it, and the passport shows exactly which fields each rule asks for.

  • Batteries: the full EU Battery Regulation passport (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Annex XIII) for EV, light means of transport and industrial batteries, with per-serial units, state of health, cycles and an event history.
  • Toys (Regulation (EU) 2025/2509) and detergents (Regulation (EU) 2026/405), each with its passport date.
  • Textiles, furniture, and iron and steel, the next ESPR product groups, ready to prepare for now.
  • Electronic displays and household appliances under the Ecodesign rules, plus RoHS and REACH substances of concern.
  • A readiness state and score per product, with a checklist of exactly what is still missing.
  • New delegated acts are added to the catalog as the EU adopts them, so your checklist updates without any work on your side.

Open standards

Built on the open standards the EU passport system uses

Veribl is built for the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781) and the open standards behind it, so any system, scanner or authority can read a Veribl passport without a custom integration.

  • GS1 Digital Link identifiers for every model (/01/{GTIN}), batch (/10/{lot}) and unit (/21/{serial}), in a standard QR code.
  • Machine-readable JSON-LD for every passport using schema.org, GS1 and UN/CEFACT vocabularies, served from the same address through standard content negotiation.
  • A REST API with scoped keys to read products and passports, publish versions and send battery events, plus signed webhooks.
  • Every published version is signed with Ed25519, and the public keys are published as a JSON Web Key set so anyone can verify a passport independently.
  • Passports in all 24 official EU languages.
  • Registration data for the EU Digital Product Passport registry (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1778), ready as CSV or JSON.
  • Our roadmap follows the harmonised CEN-CENELEC Digital Product Passport standards (EN 18216 to EN 18223) published in 2026.

Availability

Online for at least 10 years, whatever happens to your account

A passport has to work for as long as the product is in use. Every published passport version stays online at its public address for at least 10 years after the most recent version was published. That commitment is in our Terms of Service (section 7.5) and applies even if you move to the free plan, cancel or close your account.

  • Published versions can't be changed or deleted: a database rule refuses it. A new publish creates a new version, and every older version stays viewable.
  • Archiving or deleting a product never takes its passport down. A product with a published passport is archived, not deleted.
  • Passport data is stored in an EU data center (Frankfurt), with encrypted backups.
  • Veribl is an EU company, headquartered in Riga, Latvia.
  • Download a complete, signed backup of every published passport at any time: the back-up copy ESPR Article 10(4) asks you to make available through a second provider.
  • Hosting is free on every plan, including Starter, and scans are never blocked.

Access and data

The right data for each reader, and a log of who saw it

ESPR gives the public, businesses with a legitimate interest and authorities different rights to passport data. Veribl has all three access levels built in, so restricted data reaches only the people you grant it to.

  • Three access levels: public, legitimate interest (repairers, recyclers, other businesses) and authority (market surveillance and customs).
  • Battery passports set the access level of every Annex XIII field exactly as the regulation does.
  • Grant access by email, by organisation domain or with an expiring access link (1 day to 2 years), and revoke it at any time.
  • Partners sign in to the partner portal at dpp.veribl.com with a one-time emailed code, with no passwords to leak, and can ask you for access.
  • Every restricted view is logged, and restricted machine-readable data is never cached.
  • GDPR: Veribl acts as your processor under a Data Processing Agreement, available on request.

Supply-chain data

Veribl is the passport layer. Your suppliers and systems supply the data

Veribl publishes, signs and hosts the passport, and takes supply-chain data from the people and systems that already hold it: your suppliers, your PIM, your ERP and your traceability provider.

  • Suppliers answer your data requests for materials, substances and certificates in the partner portal, or through a secure one-off link.
  • Each supplier answer is signed and kept exactly as sent, and each certificate file is fingerprinted, so you can always show who declared what and when.
  • Nothing reaches a passport until someone on your team approves it.
  • Bring in product data from your PIM, ERP, e-commerce platform or spreadsheets, and connect traceability tools through the REST API.
  • A battery management system can send state of health, cycles and events straight to each battery's passport.

Switching providers

Your data is yours, and your passports keep resolving

You own your passport data, and the Terms say so. You can take all of it with you at any time, in open formats, and the passports you published keep working at the same address for at least 10 years after you leave.

  • Full backup of every published passport version as JSON, from the Passports page, whenever you want it.
  • Every passport is also available as JSON-LD and through the API, so a new provider can read it directly.
  • Customer data (contacts, registrations, chats and feedback) exports as CSV at any time.
  • No lock-in fees and no exit fees. Published passports stay online after you cancel, so QR codes already on products keep working.
